Weimar is known worldwide for its museums, archives and exhibitions. Here, everything seems to revolve around the retelling of past lives, the worship of the dead. But what about the people who live & work behind those scenes – and their stories?
THIS SIDE OF SCENERY PARK invites you on a staged voyage of discovery on foot to various places in Weimar, where the diversity of contemporary life can be seen and less well-known sides of the city can be experienced. Together with a multitude of actors and associations, a unique fleeting museum is created before the eyes of the visitors, which changes its entrance every day.
As in every modern museum, visitors will also find audio guides to help them find their way around. You will hear excerpts from interviews with people from Weimar who work in and behind the scenes of the city centre and thus maintain the business, which receives countless tourists every year. You listen to the life paths of individuals and thus, piece by piece, a somewhat different portrait of the city in its lively diversity is created. The museum developed here is a repository of Weimar places and stories, memories and biographies – a walk-through panorama of the city full of surprises. Visitors to the museum can choose between different paths and directions and thus experience different biographies. The different paths of life are constantly being re-combined and thus result in a collective biography of the city on this side of the scenery.
